PROPOLIS WHOLE EXTRACT

«Propoli (Propolis). Action: antibacterial, antimycotic, anthelmintic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiviral, wound healing.
General therapeutic characteristics.
Antiviral: important for clinical use is the observation that Propolis inhibits replication of rhinovirus and influenza virus. Its use in the prevention and treatment of influenza and colds is therefore highly recommended. It has also been proposed in the adjuvant treatment of upper respiratory tract infections in pediatrics, in chronic lung infections, in the TBC, cervicitis and in some vaginal infections in the form of lavender at 5%.
Propolis inhibits the in vitro growth of Herpes simplex I, of adenovirus, coronarovirus and rotavirus….
Antibacterial: … in vivo and in vitro, it has bactericidal and bacteriostatic properties with respect to numerous bacteria: e.g. Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus spp., Corynebacterium spp., Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., E. Coli, Proteus vulgaris
Antimycotic: in vitro, propolis has shown a remarkable antifungal action against Candida albicans.
Anti-inflammatory: the anti-inflammatory properties of Propolis seem attributable to an inhibition of the production of prostaglandins and leukotrienes. The anti-inflammatory action is exerted on all mucous membranes (respiratory, gastrointestinal and genitourinary systems) and skin surfaces.
Antioxidant: Propolis also has antioxidant properties, confirmed by several studies. It is commonly used successfully in the case of arthritis and muscular rheumatism.
Immunomodulatory: …together with the antimicrobial one, this feature confers a greater resistance to infection. It may have a stimulating action on the thymus gland. In geriatrics, one has observed improvements in physical and psychological conditions….
Hepatoprotective: in vitro and in vivo
Antitumoural: several studies have proven the anti-proliferative activity of propolis and of its components, isolated on strains of tumours in humans and animals.
Wound-healing: it has proven effective in infected wounds and burns.
Anaesthetic: on mucous membranes » [1].

«In vitro, a Propolis extract has been shown to have a 100% lethal effect on Vaginal Trichomonas and on Toxoplasma gondii after 24 hours of contact. This extract has also shown to decrease the inflammation associated with trichomoniasis caused by Trichomonas vaginalis » [2].
